Silent Hill
The opening of Silent hill includes the institution company which is 'Open Road' films, the institution logo is quite simple but in a bold red color. This color represents the horror film genre and makes it suitable for the film. It also connotes gore and danger that is within the film which is yet to be discovered.
The opening sequence of Silent Hill starts of slow showing a image of a butchers knife in a persons hand, the opening shows a character frozen in their place. After showing a still image of the butchers knife it flashes straight into the credits introducing the director first, by cutting straight into the directors name it adds enigma because it was unexpected shot.
The sequence continues through the idea of dead bodies and has a continuous flow when showing the corrupt, decomposed body parts in different shapes eg: the shape of the body as a spider. The gory images connote the genre of the film which is horror/slasher and hints towards the audience what we could be expecting during the film. As we see the disturbing images, on the side we usually have the credits. As the text is on the side it allows us to see the text but not take our full attention away from the credits which connotes a sense of continuity.
The location is a damaged and abandoned warehouse which has a ghastly feel towards it, this is to suit the horror and sickness in the film. The warehouse also creates the audience to feel anxious because the story line is quite unexpected.
The main props in this opening sequence is the knives and blood which are the main conventions of a horror film.
The typography is very simple and bold but still has an impact. The background is grey and black and the typography is white, this allows the typography to be eye-catching and attractive as it contrasts with the colors. The background color does not stand out against the white typography, this connotes that the film has darkness and is full of negativity. The white typography appeals to the eye and would take the attention away from the insane background.

Timeline for Silent Hill
I have found out that in the credits I will make sure to give the credits to the most important people first such as the director and the producer as they do the most work when creating a film. I have also understood to make my typography for the credits simple but attractive so it does not drag to much attention away from the background. I will make sure that the credits are visible for long enough so that the audience is able to read it.
